Volunteer and be a star this Christmas
The Volunteer’s Trust has been set up by volunteers for volunteers and was established in 2011 as the UK’s first and only registered charitable trust to promote a benevolent fund for volunteers throughout the UK.
Our society relies on the generosity and support of everyday people that volunteer - the men, women and children who tirelessly give their time and energy to help others. Every year over 20 million people volunteer in the UK - that’s roughly a 1/3 of the population who volunteer more than 100 million hours to their local communities. That is a large group of people that may need support from time to time, whom deserve a voice and should have recognition for the great work they do everyday. Running clubs, inspiring others, cooking meals, cleaning, listening, rescuing those who are in trouble and doing countless things beside, these are the people who help make our society a better place.
Our purpose is to safeguard the legacy of volunteers and volunteering throughout the UK, to strengthen the on-going commitment made by volunteers to help maintain volunteering for future generations by way of our benevolent fund to support volunteers who may suffer financial hardship.
Most UK industries and sectors have a benevolent fund. Almost all of them are funded through contributions from employees and/ or employers for paid employment, yet nothing for volunteers.
We are the first and only Charitable Trust within the UK to provide this support to volunteers. This is going to be a huge undertaking, but to enable us to make a difference to the lives of so many volunteers across the UK, we as a charity need to secure funding to help the growing number of highly deserving volunteers calling for support.
